The foam latex Army of Darkness Deadite prop mask and screen used prop helmet came to us in fair condition, but in need of some light restoration and a display stand to support it over time. As with all of our conservation work, we sought to restore the mask in a way that maintains the original material, and creates a final piece that still looks and feels screen-used and not like a replica might look. We worked to carefully rebuild the areas of exposed orange foam latex and paint match just those spots we repaired to the original material which we preserved. We also recreated a few missing teeth… it seems in the land of the Evil Dead, some folks forget to brush! Our artists get all the fun jobs and restoring this original movie prop from one of our favorite films was certainly one of them!
We flexed the bib of the Deadite mask and mounted him on a customized version of our adjustable mask display stand to complete the display of the classic horror-comedy prop!
