Star Wars Lightsaber Props Acrylic Case
A foam carved themed display with glowing lava for a pair of Star Wars lightsaber props from the prequel films.
These Star Wars lightsaber props used by actors Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor in the final film of the prequel trilogy. In the final battle of Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith, Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker fight to the death through the volcanic planet of Mustafar. Since the lightsaber effects were added to the film post production the actors needed something on set to physically fight with to give the battle realism. These two lightsaber blade props also gave special effects artists a point of reference when the adding the lightsaber’s iconic glowing look in post production.
For this display we decided to use the rocky volcanic terrain of the planet Mustafar (where Obi-Wan and Anakin have their battler) as a backdrop. We first carved the backdrop out of EPS styrofoam to recreate the rocky terrain. To create the look of lava we mapped out where we wanted the cracks to be and then we cut all the way through the base. We used a mixture of flickering red and yellow lights within to give the lava more dimension and a sense of “flowing” beneath the surface.
To complete the display for these Star Wars movie props, we added a photograph of the epic battle sequence. We specifically chose the picture and its placement so that when the lightsaber props were added, they almost perfectly lined up with the photo. We also added a custom metal plaque and an large custom acrylic display case cover for a polished finished look to this amazing display!
